If you want to do your Christmas shopping in style, consider heading to the Oxford Street area this Saturday.
Oxford Street and Regent Street are becoming traffic-free for the day, in an attempt to get VIPs – that’s Very Important Pedestrians – to hit the shops.
There’ll be promotions, entertainment and even a chill out zone – which you’ll probably need after encountering the hoardes of crowds. Ladies, head to River Island to get free makeovers from Bourjois and Toni & Guy.
Nearest Tube: Oxford Street.
I wandered round Central London quite a lot this weekend, and it’s definitely starting to feel more Christmassey.
As November is upon us, all the shop windows have turned from gothic Halloween scenes to sparkly Christmas ensembles.
If this isn’t too early for you, head down to Oxford Street tomorrow, Tuesday November 3, to see the Christmas Lights being turned on.
Stars of new film A Christmas Carol, including Hollywood star Jim Carrey, will be appearing before heading over to Leicester Square for the world premiere of the movie.
Heart FM will present perfomances from The Saturdays and Taio Cruz, before Carrey switches the lights on.
At Regent Street, Toby Anstis will be hosting The Noisettes, Daniel Merriweather and ‘Oliver!’ star Jodie Prenger.
Actor Colin Firth will switch the lights on.
St. Paul’s Cathedral
If you find yourself in the south of the city, head to St. Paul’s Cathedral where Spandau Ballet perform, along with Faryl Smith and the St. Paul’s Cathedral Choir.
Actor Bob Hoskins and the cast of musical Hairspray will also be at the event.
All events run from 5pm – 6:30pm – get there early for a good spot!
